Teaching takes a lot out of a person. A teacher’s day is filled with constant talking and walking around. Staying hydrated (and/or caffeinated) is very important, so having a dependable water bottle or two nearby is extremely beneficial. That’s why I am sharing with you some of the best water bottles for teachers available.
Throughout the years, I have tried several different water bottles, but the steel water bottles are definitely at the top of the list for several reasons:
- They tend to keep liquids cold or warm longer than plastic.
- Plastic water bottle are not only more susceptible to cracks and breakage, but many have also been proven to be harmful since the plastic can leak into your beverage.
- They won’t break into hazardous pieces if they fall like glass water bottles possibly can. That’s important when using something around children.
Most of the water bottles I will highlight come in various sizes. I am showcasing the larger sizes because I find them to be more convenient for all day teaching. I enjoy not having to refill my bottle often throughout the day. If you prefer smaller sizes, you can check them out as well.

1. Stanley Quencher H2.0 40 oz
I am not usually a “follow the trend” type of gal. This Stanley Quencher H2.0 has been trending for a couple of years now. I had my “old faithful” tumbler for over 3 years and still use it on occasion. Then one day, my daughter bought herself a Stanley. After having it a couple of months, I decided to try hers out. It definitely has quite a few pros! I am now officially a Stanley fan and think it is one of the best water bottles for teachers.
Pros:
- It holds 40 oz of liquid! That means no need to refill it as frequent as many of the other water bottles.
- It’s made of stainless steel, so it is made to last.
- The handle is large allowing you to carry it easily. The handle is also rounded, so it is comfortable to carry around.
- The lid gives you the option to use a straw or just sip with a simple twist of the tab.
- It keeps cold drinks cold for many hours.
- There are a variety of color options available as well as size options.
- It is designed to fit inside the cup holder of a car.
Cons:
- Because it can hold a lot of liquid, it can get a bit heavy.
- The straw is a thick plastic, so if you are concerned about plastic intake, you would want to use the “no straw” option or buy a separate steel straw.
2. Yeti Rambler 30 oz
This Yeti Rambler 30 oz is what I call my old faithful. I used it for several years in the classroom. I started with the one that did not have a handle. Then, I moved onto the one with the handle and never looked back. It served me well for a long long time.
With over 10,600 reviews and an average of 4.7 stars, it’s easy to trust this brand and this reusable water bottle.
Pros:
- It holds 30 oz of liquid which is a good amount. (They now have a larger version available as well.)
- Just like the Stanley, it’s made of stainless steel, so it is made to last.
- There are a variety of colors to choose from.
- The technology of the Yeti is unmatched in my opinion. I used to fill it up with ice and refill it with water throughout the day. I would still have some ice left inside the Yeti at the end of the day. It was pretty incredible!
- You can choose the lid to meet your needs. They have a straw option one and a sipping one available.
- My Yeti was practically spill proof when the magnetic cover was on.
- It is designed to fit inside the cup holder of a car.
Cons:
- The lid does not have a multi-use option like the Stanley does. That being said, I don’t know many people who switch back and forth. Most people are either a straw person or a sip person.
- The handle is on the smaller side and is flat. I could barely get my pinky into the handle.
3. Hydro Flask 40 oz
This Hydro Flask 40 oz reusable stainless steel water bottle has over 26,800 reviews and an average of 4.8 stars! It’s been a popular brand for about a decade.
Pros:
- It holds 40 oz of liquid, so you won’t be needing to refill it much if at all.
- The cylinder shape of the bottle allows you to easily slide it into many side pockets of the best teacher book bags.
- The handle at the top makes it easy to carry around.
- Because the lid is a twist lock, it keeps liquids from leaking out.
- It works well with both cold drinks and hot drinks. It claims to keep cold drinks cold for 24 hours, and hot drinks hot for 12 hours. That’s pretty amazing!
Cons:
- Just like the Yeti, the lid does not have a multi-use option.
- One reviewer claimed that it didn’t fit inside the cup holder of their car.
- Many have claimed that if it falls it dents easily.
- There are claims that the paint on the bottom scratches off, so you would need to purchase the boot for it.
4. IronFlask 40 oz
This IronFlask 40 oz reusable stainless steel water bottle is the KING of positive reviews. It has over 130,500 reviews and an average of 4.8 stars! That’s almost unheard of!
