As many of us already know, Teachers Pay Teachers resources developed by educators just like you and me have been a game changer in many classrooms around the world.
They have saved teachers time, brought digital resources into the hands of both students and teachers, have inspired engaging classroom transformations for multiple subject areas, and have helped teachers reach students in ways that were nearly impossible before with the use of outdated textbooks.
All that being said, us teachers are usually on a tight budget and getting the most for our money is very important, especially when we are investing it on materials for our classroom.
For years, I have always looked for thrifty ways to save money on experiences and materials for my classroom, and thought I would share with you ways you can save money and find out about deals on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Teachers Pay Teachers rewards educators for leaving feedback on resources they previously purchased.
You will get 1 credit per dollar you spent on a resource once you leave feedback on that resource. For every 20 credits you receive, you will be able to get $1 off a future purchase. To redeem the credits you have accumulated, simple click on “TPT credits” once you are in your cart (you must have a minimum of 20 credits to be able to use them).
To do so:
1. Click on your account name.
Here’s the obvious one, Teachers Pay Teachers promo codes.
Throughout the year, Teachers Pay Teachers has just a handful of Sitewide Sales, but those times are definitely one of the thriftiest times to shop. Many Teacher Authors discount their stores to 20% off, and you can usually get an extra 5% off by entering a promo code in the cart.
For Example: This year, Teachers Pay Teachers is having a Cyber Monday sale providing teaches with up to 25% off using the promo code: CYBER20.
Quite a few sellers like to offer discounts during the debut of a new resource as a thank you to their loyal followers. These offers are available for a limited time, usually the first 24-48 hours of the release of the resource.
Teachers Pay Teachers sends out a daily email, usually in the morning, notifying followers that their favorite Teacher Authors have posted new resources. This is a great way to see which new resources are available and how much they are discounted.
Following a store is easy-peasy. Just head on over to their store and click the green star next to the words “Follow Me.” You can find that star under the store name. Once you click on it, the word “Following” will show up. That’s it!

Many Teacher Authors have built an email community where they can speak to their virtual co-teachers directly and share valuable information with them, such as new resource discounts, giveaways, and sales that are coming up. This makes it an opportune moment to grab those thrifty deals!
Teacher Authors usually have a sign up form on their website or social media page. If you can’t find it, reach out them via Direct Message or email them and ask how you can join their community.
To join the Your Thrifty Co-Teacher email community, just simply fill out the form below with your first name and email address. I’d love to have you be part of our community!
(Tip: School email addresses usually send these types of emails to spam making them difficult to find. Therefore, entering a personal email is usually more beneficial.)
Hanging out with your favorite Teacher Authors on social media is another GREAT way to not only to find out ahead of time when a sale is coming up, but also when their resources will be discounted. They may also participate in giveaways or contests you may be interested in participating in.
Not to mention, it is also a fun way to gather inspiration for your classroom and be able to communicate with your virtual co-teachers.
Come and join Your Thrifty Co-Teacher on Instagram and Facebook.
Many of us collaborate with co-teachers throughout the year and end up with some of the same resources.
Well, did you know that if you plan ahead, you could join together and buy a second license for a discount? It’s true. Many Teacher Authors give at least a 10% discount for a second license.
Sharing is caring!
Oh, and on that point, I should mention that most Terms of Use on Teachers Pay Teachers’ resources state that the resource can be used by one classroom. That means that in order to comply, teachers have to have their own license. Therefore, getting the resource using the multiple license discount is a thrifty alternative.
Many Teacher Authors create bundles of resources. These resources are usually related to each other and offer teachers months, if not a full year, of activities at discounts of 20% or more. Purchasing bundles is a great way to save a lot of money in the long run.
If your state and district allow teachers to receive gift cards from parents (most do with a set limit), let your room parent know that you’d welcome TPT gift cards. Many parents enjoy giving teachers something that will come back to their own children, and what better gift than a Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Card.
What is The Perfect Thrifty Combination?
Here it is! Make sure to stay up to date with your feedback, then during a TPT or Teacher Author sale, add some bundles to your cart. If applicable, use a promo code, then use your feedback credits, and watch that price drop.
I hope this has helped give you some ideas on how to stretch your dollar and how to find some great deals to save you money without having to wait around for a Teachers Pay Teachers promo code. Be sure to let us know down below which of these is your favorite tip.
